Remove solid residues

If a piece of vaseline or ointment is on the carpet or slipcovers, use a dull knife or spoon and remove these ingredients and ointments from them as much as possible. Don’t rub these materials; Because it will only penetrate the stain particles deeper into their fibres.

Gently tap the stained area with a cloth soaked in detergent.

Use a carpet cleaner or make your cleanser by combining a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid and two cups of cold water. Dip a clean white cloth or tissue into the mixture and roll it gently. Gently tap the stained area with this tissue. First, go to the outer parts of the stain and gradually get closer to the center (it will help prevent the stain from spreading). Keep doing this until there’s no more oily substance left to be transferred from the carpet or slipcovers to the white napkin.

Rinse the detergent off the stained area.

Take another clean white towel and soak it in water. Then gently tap the area with a tissue to remove traces of detergent. If you don’t do this step, the detergent residue can absorb more dirt.

Let them dry in the open air.

After you’re done tapping the carpet and slipcovers with a clean cloth, allow the surfaces to dry in the open air. If the stain remains, repeat the stain removal steps. When the stain is completely gone, vacuum the carpet or sofa so that the fibres in this part return to their previous state.

Important points for removing vaseline and ointment stains

  • Try any detergent or stain remover in small, invisible corners of the garment first to make sure it doesn’t fade or damage its colour.
  • In the beginning, remove any ointment that has accumulated on the surface of the fabric with a knife or spoon.
  • Never touch the cloth soaked in ointment or rub the cloth together. Gently wipe the stained area with a dry, white paper towel.
  • Just like many other stains, the sooner you take care of the stain while it’s still fresh, the better your chances of completely removing it from your clothes.
  • If the label on your clothes say “laundry only”, then take your clothes to a reputable laundry as soon as possible and give them any information about the fabric, the type of stain and the time of its creation.
  • Be sure to remove Vaseline stains and other similar materials using solvents before putting the clothes in the dryer.
  • Be sure to consult with laundry experts and cleaning services to remove oil stains from silk and slipcovers cloths.
