How to Wash Party Gowns? (part 2)

To wash party gowns, we said in the first part that you must first remove the stains. Then wash gently by hand. Don’t forget to use a mild detergent, turn the clothes upside down and never squeeze the clothes. Also, use a horizontal surface for drying. We don’t recommend washing party gowns with a washing machine, but you can use a mesh bag if necessary. The material of the clothes also has a great effect on the washing’s type. In the previous part, we talked about the dos and don’ts of washing silk and velvet gowns. In this part, we will explain the lace dress and other important points. Stay with us.

Lace party gowns

Cotton, rayon or nylon are the most common materials used to make fine lace garments. The luxury lace, also called organza, is traditionally made of silk. Due to their soft structure, these gorgeous laces are prone to wrinkles and abrasion. To prevent damage to your lace dress, observe the following:

Do’s

  • When wearing lace, keep your jewellery in the box. Jewellery’s lock is usually sharp and can easily tear your clothes if stuck.
  • Carefully store lace garments. Don’t place the skirts on the hanger, as the pressure of the clamps will cause them to sag and lose their shape. Instead, gently fold the lace skirts into the cupboard.
  • Don’t put anything on lace garments to prevent unwanted flattening or wrinkling.
  • Wrap lace gowns in a large piece of tissue before storing them to prevent staining. Use satin or silk hangers to hold larger garments.
  • Hang your lace gowns to dry. By exposing silk to the open air, you can prevent wrinkles in clothing. Do this indoors, as placing lace under direct sunlight will stiffen them.

Don’ts

  • Don’t put lace in the washing machine or dryer: Due to the delicate nature of these fabrics, they will cause them to wear into the washing chamber and damage the silk fibres.
  • Instead, wash your lace clothes by hand in cold water or leave them to dry. Be sure to use a mild, silk-based detergent to wash your party gown.
  • Don’t iron lace. Heat and pressure can destroy the integrity of your garment. Also, avoid using the steamer. If you can’t stand the wrinkles of your lace dress, you can hang your clothes in the corner of the bathroom and open the hot shower to fill the bathroom with hot steam. Seal the bathroom well and fill the space with steam by opening a hot shower. Next, hang your lace dress and gently straighten it with your fingers.

How to dry properly

  1. Hang your gown naturally on a dryer shelf to dry. Don’t put it in the dryer under any circumstances.
  2. The steamer is the safest and best way to get rid of wrinkles. If you don’t have a steamer, you can iron your party gown by holding the iron on top of the dress and using the steam.

Principles of keeping party gowns for a long time

After washing the dress, it’s necessary to keep it properly to keep the beautiful appearance and form of the dress. Here are the most important tips for keeping your party gown for a long time.

Have a quality pendant

Now that you have invested in a quality party gown, it’s better to save your dress longer by buying a quality pendant. Use wooden or sponge hangers to keep your shoulders in shape.

Protect your party gown from the sun

If your closet has a window, avoid placing your gowns in direct sunlight. Prolonged exposure to sunlight, or even room light, can cause your clothes to fade. If you can’t prevent your clothes from hanging in the sun, protect your gown with a well-ventilated dress bag.

Choose a cool place

If your party gown contains materials such as fur, boots or vinyl, move it to a cooler place, like the basement. These materials are vulnerable to heat, and if left in a light and warm place, they will dry out and be damaged.

Use a non-plastic clothing bag.

The fabric, just like our skin, needs to breathe, and no clothes should stay in a plastic bag for months. Instead, use a breathable cloth bag with an opening at the top and bottom.

Shape your clothes

If your dress has many embellishments and extra components, you need to make sure that your dress retains its shape even when hanging; Because most laundries fill party gowns with paper towels or wet wipes. If you’re worried that your party gown will lose its shape due to long-term storage in the closet, you can fill it with paper towels.
