Not only the bed but also its accessories must be clean. Join us to learn the best and easiest way to wash mattresses.

Mattress care

Whenever you feel that the mattress needs to be washed and cleaned, be sure to take it seriously! Turn the bed over every three or four months and use the other side. On windy days of the year, open the window so that the sun can disinfect all the equipment. The first step in washing the mattress is to remove the bedspread and remove the mattress cover. You should place the bedspread or mattress cover separately in the washing machine. In the settings, select the hottest possible temperature and use quality powders. Don’t forget to activate the drying cycle of the device as well. This method will remove all germs, small insects and dirt from the cover. Vacuum the mattress before cleaning it.

Cleaning and staining the bed mattress

The next step for cleanliness is a vacuum cleaner. Vacuuming dusts the bed. Use a vacuum cleaner tube to suck the corners of the bed. Then sprinkle baking soda on the bed to remove stains. To make the mattress smelling fresh, pour five drops of scented oil into the baking soda to absorb the scent and repel stains.

Let the baking soda rest on the bed for 30 minutes, then sweep the bed again to altogether remove the baking soda. Then place it outside in the open air to absorb moisture and dry. But in the summer, it’s enough to leave the window empty, pull the curtains aside so that the sun shines on the bed and dries it.

One good way to clean mattresses is to wash its cover. For this purpose, first, wash the blankets and bedspreads. It will remove a large part of the dirt. But if your mattress and bed still smell bad, it’s better to wash the mattress.

Materials and equipment required.

  • An old toothbrush or coarse sponge
  • Hot water
  • Disinfectant detergent
  • White alcohol
  • Spray
  • Enzyme carpet washing liquid

Clean the bed cover

To get started, it’s a good idea to check if your mattress is springy or regular. Using hot water can kill fungi and bacteria well. However, hot water severely damages metal parts and springs, causing them to rust and rot. Therefore, it’s better to go to professional centers to wash them and use special washing or drying services.

Washing ordinary mattresses

If your mattress doesn’t have a spring, you can wash it at home. To do this, place it on the terrace, in the yard or bathroom and pour hot water on it. Spray disinfectant detergent on it immediately, wash thoroughly with a coarse sponge and pour hot water on it twice. Repeat this step twice. You can also use white vinegar instead of ready-made disinfectant detergent.

Washing with an enzymatic detergent

In the disinfectant washing step, pour water-diluted detergent on the mattress and wash it thoroughly with a coarse sponge.

Drying

Rinse the mattress with warm water. Note that rinsing should be sprayed and dried with a towel. Don’t immerse it under any circumstances. Because it rots and its springs rust. Then place it in the open air in direct sunlight because it can kill fungi and germs. Once the mattress is completely dry, you can use it.
