If your child is eating a funnel ice cream with a pack of chocolates, you must be careful not to get his clothes dirty. But you don’t need to be sensitive, chocolate and ice cream stains can be easily removed from clothes as long as you know the right way to do it without damaging them. In this article, you will read how to remove chocolate and ice cream stains from clothes.

Removing chocolate stains from clothes

Both kids and adults love chocolate, but if you give your child a delicious chocolate pack, you should accept the risk of having dirty and chocolate-stained clothes. But don’t worry, let your dear children eat chocolate because the method of removing these stains from clothes is very simple. You have more than one choice to clean them, first, read the care label carefully and then try one of the following methods to remove stains.

The first method

An important point in dealing with chocolate stain is to prevent it from melting and try to return it to its solid form. Because melted chocolate easily penetrates the fabric fibres, cleaning such stains won’t be easy. To do this, place the garment in a plastic bag so that the stain is outward and doesn’t spread to clean parts. Then put it in the freezer to harden the chocolate on it. Remove this hardened chocolate with a keen knife or something similar that doesn’t damage the fabric of the garment. Once you are sure you have removed most of the chocolate stain, you can use an enzymatic laundry detergent to wash your clothes. The use of enzyme-containing powder is recommended for this purpose. Because the enzymes in these powders break down the protein and fat structure of chocolate and make it easier to remove the stains.

The second method

Don’t worry if the above methods don’t work for removing chocolate stains on your clothes. In this case, you can use a laundry detergent that also has staining properties. Soak the clothes in a solution of this powder and cold water for a few hours to break the structure of the stain (if the stain is large and it seems difficult to clean, keep the clothes in this solution overnight until morning to get better results). After that, you can wash the clothes in the usual way. This method is very suitable for washing clothes by hand in cold water, however, before using any kind of liquid or stain powder, it’s necessary to read the description on the package carefully. As soon as you are sure, add a small amount of solution. Apply to the seam inside the clothes so that this new material doesn’t damage the texture and colour of your clothes.

The third method

To prevent the stain from spreading, turn the clothes upside down and do whatever you want on the back of the fabric. It will prevent the stain from penetrating the fabric. You should also place the stained part on several layers of tissue. To remove chocolate stains, you can mix a teaspoon of dishwashing liquid, half a teaspoon of ammonia and a pint of cold water. Next, soak the stain in ammonia with a lint-free cloth. Remember not to rub the cloth together. By doing this, we transfer the chocolate into a paper towel. In this part, if the chocolate stain doesn’t disappear with ammonia, do the same with 3% hydrogen peroxide. Pour the liquid on the stain and wait a few minutes. Then wash it with water. Note that hydrogen peroxide removes the colour of some dark fabrics, so try it before use.

The fourth method

Another way to get rid of chocolate stains, which is simpler and less troublesome than the previous method, is to use water. All you need is cold water. Never use hot water to remove chocolate stains because chocolate has a protein structure that when exposed to heat, cooks and stabilizes the stain. To remove chocolate stains with cold water, place the stain under the water for a few minutes. It will prevent more chocolate from penetrating the fibres of the clothes, and then you can wash your clothes in the washing machine.
