Zipper Smooth sliding
Use our solution for fastening the Zipper of your clothes better. By doing these methods, you no longer need to replace it and you can fix it quickly when the zipper breaks off or is stuck by the following methods. For fastening the zipper better, apply a little soap with a soft pencil tip or even a little wheel oil on the edge of the zipper teeth.
Realigning zipper teeth
One of the most common problems with a zipper is misaligned teeth. There are several reasons for it. Sometimes using the tip of a pencil or soap, lubricates the teeth enough to make them work properly again. If this method doesn’t work, the zipper may be defective. In this case, the following should be checked:
- Check that the fabric or yarn is not stuck to the zipper. Inspect the teeth. If any of the zipper teeth were bent, straighten it with pliers. Check the first of the zipper. Sometimes the start of the zipper loosens over time and doesn’t realign well with the teeth. Tighten the start of it with pliers to hold the teeth well.
- Jeans’ zippers are a little harder to repair. You may need to remove the metal clamp at the end of the zipper with a sharp tool and sew the end of the zipper with a few stitches to better realign the teeth. If part of the zipper teeth has been missed, sew the zipper to that part. This method will allow the zipper to open and close without any problems from that point on. Otherwise, the zipper must be replaced completely.
The zipper head is broken
If the zipper head comes off or fails to realign the teeth well, you have no choice but to change it. You can break it with a pair of pliers to remove the damaged one. Now slide the new one into the teeth. Replacing the zipper head isn’t difficult and only takes a few minutes. But if the zipper head is broken you have to do another method. Breaking the zipper head makes it difficult to open and close the zipper. The solution to this problem is very easy. You can use a paper clip, a key ring or even a piece of telephone cord to pull the zipper head.
If a fabric stuck in it
- Sometimes the zippers work completely properly and but a piece of fabric or clothing is stuck inside its teeth. So before you get angry and run the zipper roughly, check the clothes and especially the lining thoroughly and find the obstacle.
- Hold the piece of fabric stuck inside the zipper by hand or pliers and tweezers and move it several times to loosen it. Then run it out at once. Do this step very gently and patiently so as not to damage the fabric and zipper.
- Open and close the zipper several times to find out which part of the garment or lining is causing the problem and preventing it from moving. Just remember that you have to do it very slowly. While doing this, if any part of the zipper gets stuck to the fabric, stop pulling the zipper so that you don’t face any more problems with the zipper again.
- Now solve the problem. If possible, fold and sew the part of the fabric that enters the zipper inwards. Otherwise, cut it with scissors and iron the two sides of the dress and zipper completely; By doing this, the area around the zipper will be completely flat and smooth. If you fasten the zipper again and you notice an extra piece getting stuck in the zipper again, repeat the steps.
