Natural alternatives to the bleach (Part 2)

bleach is widely used in whitening clothes, dishes and surfaces. But do you know that using bleach will bring potential health risks!? this detergent is not only a corrosive liquid, but the resulting vapours can be toxic, especially in closed spaces because there’s no fresh air flow. It will be more dangerous if used around children. Is there anything that can be an alternative detergent to it and make everything as clean and shiny as possible? In the first part, we explain some of these methods. in this article, we would like to explain what other natural products you can use instead of it for the shine and lustre of your home.

Other natural alternatives to detergents or bleach

Cleaning stones on cabinets and ceramics

A mixture of alcohol and soda can be used to clean the stones on the cabinets and kitchen ceramics.

Brightening with lemon

Lemons contain some of the strongest natural acids found in food. Use lime to remove grease and kill bacteria. To quickly and easily remove water stains from faucets, just pour baking soda and salt on a cut half of a lemon and rub it on the stains so that they can be easily removed. The combination of lemon juice and vinegar can also make a strong and nature-friendly natural glass cleaner. To make lemon vinegar, put lemon slices in a bottle full of vinegar for two weeks. Then strain it and remove the lemon pulp. You can even make an instant polish with lemon juice and vinegar.

Make a non-toxic wood polish by mixing half a cup of warm water with just a few drops of lemon oil. Mix the solution thoroughly and apply it on a slightly damp cotton cloth. Wipe the wooden surface with a damp cloth, then finish with a dry cotton cloth. This solution is also well-used on wooden entrance doors and facades.

Degrease with white vinegar

White vinegar or acetic acid as a natural cleaner removes grease and mould and is also a wax solvent. Vinegar, whether alone or in a variety of natural mixtures, can effectively replace almost any chemical cleaner in the home. Just pour some baking soda with white vinegar into the spray container and apply it on the desired surface. For carpet stains, mix water and white vinegar in a one-to-one ratio in a spray bottle. Spray the solution directly on the stained areas and let it stay for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove the stain with a sponge and a (natural) soap/water solution.

Strong disinfectant with alcohol

Isopropyl alcohol kills almost 100% of bacteria on surfaces. You can also use ethanol alcohol. With the start of the Corona pandemic, alcohol has become available to all of us. But remember that apart from hand disinfection, you can also disinfect and clean the floor, cabinets and faucets.

Healthy disinfectant with hydrogen peroxide

Hydrogen peroxide is a widely used and nature-friendly mild disinfectant. This liquid can disinfect and acts as a bleach and fungicide. Hydrogen peroxide is a simple peroxide formulation that is often used for medical purposes. Pour 50 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide into the usual dishwashing liquid and see its extraordinary effect on the cleanliness of the dishes.

Natural pipe opener with boiling water and salt

By pouring a mixture of 2 litres of hot water and half a cup of salt, a pipe opener solution is made and you can unclog blocked drains. For tougher clogs, add a solution of 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup white vinegar. This combination creates a powerful chemical reaction that dissolves and destroys fatty acids. If the metal pipes get clogged, boiling water works.

Tile grout cleaner

Without using chemicals or bleach, you can use water and baking soda to remove the tile grout and its contamination. To do this, combine one part water and three parts baking soda and apply the resulting paste to the desired surface. After sitting and placing the dough, use a toothbrush to clean it and finally clean the desired surface with a sponge.

Kitchen utensils cleaner

You can use a combination of sea salt and lemon juice to clean cooking utensils. In addition, you can also use a combination of baking soda and water.

Fabric softener

When washing the fabric, you can mix one part vinegar and two parts water. Then add a third cup of the mixture to the washing machine.

Making washing powder

You can make your washing powder. You can use a combination of two parts baking soda, one part salt and one part borax to wash the tub and shower. This combination destroys even the strongest germs and pollution.

Removing the urine stain on the mattress

If you have children who wet themselves while they sleep, you can use baking soda and hydrogen peroxide to remove urine stains and odours from the mattress.

Using baking soda to clean the oven

Using a paste of baking soda and water, you can completely clean the oven without using chemicals. Just put the dough in the bottom of the oven and after a few hours, clean the desired area to make it shiny.

Ammonia and hydrogen peroxide

If you have clothes that have old and dark stains, we recommend this combination. It easily removes them. Don’t use this solution for delicate and thin clothes. It needs to combine 5 drops of ammonia and 100 ml of hydrogen peroxide with water.

Milk as a laundry detergent

Many people know that skin spots can be made lighter and lighter with milk. But they don’t know that milk also works very well to remove stains from clothes. Pour the milk into the stained area and give it time to remove the stain.

Soap and baking soda

To make a good and fragrant homemade laundry detergent such as bleach, it’s enough to mix salt, baking soda and soap with sodium carbonate. Then add water to it to easily wash your clothes in it.

Lime juice and boiled egg water

When you eat hard-boiled eggs, don’t throw away the water! Boiling eggs in water causes a lot of calcium to be transferred to the water, which is very useful for stabilizing the colour. This substance will remove stains without damaging the colour of the fabric like bleach. Soak dirty and stained clothes in a mixture of boiled egg water and a little lime juice for half an hour and wash them in the washing machine after the stains are removed.

Salt and lemon juice

You may be surprised, but lemon juice is one of the best natural stain removers and bleaches. Combining it with salt or baking soda can act as a powerful cleaner for dirty clothes and stubborn stains. Mix the juice of two limes with about half a cup of salt and two litres of lukewarm water and regular washing powder. Then soak the dirty clothes or bedding in this homemade laundry detergent solution for half an hour. After that drain and dry in the sun. To add more water to the solution, add the rest of the ingredients in the proportions mentioned.

Talcum or chalk

Talcum powder, baby powder or plain white chalk are natural ingredients to help remove oily stains. Oil or fat drops that cause an oily stain on the fabric can be removed with them! Simply sprinkle the oily stain with baby powder or talcum powder. You can rub the area with white chalk too. Let it sit on the stain for at least ten minutes to absorb the oil. Then brush your teeth easily.

Aspirin for washing white clothes

The salicylic acid in aspirin not only relieves headaches but also brightens fabrics. But for this purpose, a large number of tablets are required. To wash white clothes with aspirin, you need at least 10 tablets in 4 litres of hot water. This method is more effective on 100% cotton fabrics. Boil 4 litres of water and add aspirin tablets to it. Stir the mixture until the pills are completely dissolved. Then remove the pot from the heat and put your cotton clothes in it. Don’t fill the pot with clothes! Allow the clothing to soak in water until it cools down. Then take the clothes out of the pot and wash them as usual.

Orange oil

Orange oil is extracted from orange peel and only a few drops of it can be effective in removing stains from fabric and clothes. Before using a hidden part of the fabric or clothing, test the oil to ensure that it won’t remove the colour of the fabric. Orange oil should be kept out of the reach of children and pets. It isn’t an edible product.

Disinfectants and air fresheners

Thyme, orange, and tea tree essential oils, as well as oregano, have shown significant antibacterial activity. Tea tree oil also has strong antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties.
